Distinguished Alumni and Outstanding Young Alumni Awards :

The Distinguished Alumni Awards and the Outstanding Young Alumni Awards are the highest awards presented by the Association in honor of alumni who have contributed distinguished service to the college and/or the dental profession.

Preceptorship Luncheon and Mentoring:

Co-sponsored by the Alumni Association, this annual luncheon at the Southwest Dental Conference gives students valuable information about the “real world” issues of life after dental and dental hygiene school (such as practice management, financial management, advertising, personnel management, etc.) The students can talk informally and are paired with interested alumni throughout the year. Alumni also get a chance to meet their future colleagues. Homecoming Weekend :

Want to catch up with your classmates? Want to see what’s new at BCD? Homecoming Weekend is your opportunity to do all of that and more. Each year the Association sponsors reunions for anniversary year classes (5, 10, 15, etc.) during Homecoming Weekend, tours of campus, and family events. Scholarships (Betty J. Scott Scholarship Fund):

The Alumni Association is working with the Baylor Oral Health Foundation to establish an endowed scholarship in the name of Mrs. Betty J. Scott, who served as BCD’s registrar for 33 years. The fund was established to honor Mrs. Scott’s contribution to our profession and to Baylor College of Dentistry, and to recognize the significant influence she has had on the alumni. Your contributions to the Betty J. Scott Scholarship Fund are an excellent way to give back to BCD and to help students move forward!

Teacher of the Year Awards:

The Alumni Association sponsors the Dental & Dental Hygiene Teacher of the Year awards. Students vote for the most deserving dental and dental hygiene faculty, and the Alumni Association provides the awards.

Receptions at state and national dental meetings:

Can’t make it to Dallas? No problem…we come to you! The Association hosts receptions for alumni and friends of BCD at the Alumni Homecoming during the Southwest Dental Conference in Dallas and in San Antonio during the Texas Dental Association Meeting.

Special Events for Students:

During Orientation Week, the Association welcomes students on their first day at BCD with a continental breakfast and gift.  The Association co-sponsors the students’ annual Holiday Gala.  At the Awards Ceremony prior to graduation each year, the Association presents the Dental and Dental Hygiene Student Awards.

White Coat Ceremony for new D-3 Students:

Each February, the Association hosts the White Coat Ceremony.  Students finishing their laboratory and didactic instruction are awarded honorary clinic coats just prior to entering the clinical phase of their education.
